About Homegrown

Homegrown is a UK food brand specialising in freshly milled chakki atta, traditional flours and carefully developed flour blends. We aim to provide dependable everyday products that combine traditional milling principles with modern food-safety, quality-control and packaging standards.

Yes. Homegrown is operated by Homegrown Private Ltd, a UK-registered business.

Products manufactured by Homegrown are milled, blended or packed in the United Kingdom. Some ingredients may be sourced from the UK or overseas depending on the product, availability, harvest and quality requirements — please check individual product packaging for the relevant origin and manufacturing information.

Our focus includes:

  • Flour milled after each website order is placed
  • Traditional chakki-style stone milling
  • Carefully selected raw materials and batch-level quality controls
  • Food-grade packaging with clear ingredient and allergen information
  • Flour products developed for everyday South Asian cooking

Exact characteristics differ between products, so please check the relevant product description and packaging before purchasing.

Products & Ingredients

Our range may include:

  • Wholewheat chakki atta and Saanjh Chakki Atta
  • Bajra, jowar, ragi and makki flour, and besan
  • Traditional flour blends and protein-enriched flour products
  • Family and wellness-focused flour blends, thepla and other convenience mixes
  • Other food products introduced from time to time

Product availability may change — please check our website for what's currently available.

No. Some products, such as single-grain flours, contain only the grain named on the packaging. Others are formulated blends containing multiple grains, pulses, seeds, plant ingredients or protein ingredients. Always read the full ingredient list before purchasing or consuming a product.

Where a product is described as pure wholewheat chakki atta, the ingredient declaration will identify wheat as the ingredient. Our speciality, protein, multigrain and wellness blends contain additional ingredients, so please check the label of the individual product rather than assuming every Homegrown flour has the same formulation.

Yes — ingredients are declared on the relevant product page and packaging, normally listed in descending order by weight at the time of manufacture. Where an ingredient percentage is legally required or relevant to the product description, it will be displayed on the packaging or website. Some detailed formulation information may be commercially confidential, but all ingredients and legally required information will always be declared.

Custom flour blends aren't normally available through standard retail product pages unless a specific customisation option is shown. For wholesale or large-volume product-development enquiries, contact us — custom production depends on minimum order quantities, technical feasibility, food safety, packaging and commercial agreement.

No. Homegrown does not diagnose medical conditions or prescribe flour formulations. Please consult a doctor, registered dietitian or appropriately qualified healthcare professional before choosing products for a medical condition, allergy, intolerance or specialist diet.

Milling & Production

Products specifically described as chakki atta are produced using traditional stone-milling principles. Not every Homegrown product necessarily uses the same milling process, so please check the individual product description.

Yes. Homegrown mills flour after the customer places an order through our website, so your flour is prepared specifically for your order rather than taken from long-held finished stock. After milling, the product is packed, checked and prepared for dispatch. The estimated processing and delivery period includes the time needed for:

  • Milling and, where applicable, blending
  • Packing, labelling and quality checks
  • Preparing the parcel for dispatch

For website orders, our flour is milled after the order is placed — we keep approved grains, ingredients and packaging materials ready so orders can be milled, packed and dispatched efficiently. Some products sold through supermarkets, independent retailers, marketplaces or wholesale partners may be produced and packed in controlled batches beforehand. All products are managed according to their best-before dates, storage requirements and stock-rotation procedures.

Processing time depends on order volume, product type, milling requirements, blend formulation, packaging requirements, working days and seasonal demand. The estimated processing and delivery period will be displayed at checkout or in your order confirmation.

Raw materials are subject to appropriate supplier checks, inspection and cleaning or screening procedures before and during production. The exact process may vary according to the grain and product.

Our wholewheat chakki atta is intended to retain the natural components of the wheat grain — please check the ingredient list and product description for specifics. We also don't bleach our wholewheat chakki atta to make every batch look identical; flour colour can naturally vary depending on wheat variety, harvest, growing conditions, bran content, milling process and normal batch variation.

Flour is produced from agricultural ingredients, so reasonable variations in colour, aroma, texture, granulation and water absorption may occur between crops and production batches. Natural variation doesn't necessarily indicate a quality problem — but please contact us if you notice an unusual smell, contamination, damaged packaging, foreign material or another genuine safety or quality concern.

Flour may naturally become warm during milling. We follow our production and packing procedures before sealing and dispatching the product, and customers should store the delivered flour according to the instructions printed on the packaging.

Allergens & Dietary Requirements

Products containing wheat, barley, rye or other gluten-containing cereals will contain gluten. Our production and packing environment handles wheat and other allergens, so please don't assume a product is gluten-free unless it's expressly labelled as such.

Some millet grains don't naturally contain gluten, but cross-contamination may be possible where products are processed or packed in an environment that also handles wheat. Customers with coeliac disease or a serious gluten allergy should use only products expressly labelled as suitable for their requirements.

Allergen information is provided on the relevant product page before purchase, within the ingredient list, and on the delivered product packaging — normally emphasised within the ingredient list. Always check the packaging again before consuming a product, as recipes, suppliers or ingredients may change.

Do not consume the product until the information has been clarified. Take clear photographs of the packaging and contact us straight away.

We do not claim any product can treat, prevent or manage diabetes unless an authorised, legally permitted claim is expressly provided. Suitability for children depends on age, ingredients, allergies, nutritional needs and preparation method — parents and carers should read the complete ingredient and allergen information. Our products should not be treated as infant food unless expressly manufactured and labelled for that purpose. Pregnant or breastfeeding customers should check the full ingredient list and seek professional advice where they have concerns about herbs, extracts, allergens or speciality blends. In all these cases, please seek advice from a qualified healthcare professional for your individual circumstances.

No — Homegrown food products are not medicines and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease; product descriptions are not a substitute for professional medical advice. A product is organic only where this is expressly stated and supported by appropriate certification and labelling, and should only be treated as vegetarian or vegan where that suitability is clearly stated. Please check the individual product description and ingredient list rather than assuming.

Nutrition Information

Nutritional information may be based on laboratory testing, supplier specifications, recipe calculations, recognised food-composition data, or typical average values. Agricultural ingredients show reasonable natural variation, so nutritional declarations generally represent typical or average values rather than an exact measurement of every individual packet.

This depends on chapati size, dough-ball weight, flour formulation, water absorption, thickness and personal preparation method — so any serving or chapati estimate is approximate.

Preparation & Storage

Unless the packaging states otherwise:

  • Store the product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture
  • Keep the package properly sealed, and after opening transfer flour to a clean, dry, airtight container where appropriate
  • Keep it away from strong odours and possible sources of contamination
  • Follow any additional storage instructions printed on the packaging

Refrigeration isn't always necessary, though cool storage may help protect flour during hot or humid conditions — if you do refrigerate flour, use a tightly sealed container to prevent moisture and odour absorption.

Shelf life varies between products — always follow the best-before date and storage instructions printed on the packaging, which apply where the product remains properly stored and undamaged. Use the product within a reasonable period after opening, following any specific instructions on the packaging, and always reseal it properly and protect it from heat, moisture, insects and contamination.

Flour and grain products can be affected by storage pests if exposed to unsuitable conditions or contamination after purchase. To reduce the risk:

  • Keep the product sealed in a clean, dry container
  • Don't mix new flour with old flour, and keep storage areas clean
  • Protect flour from heat and moisture
  • Don't use flour showing signs of infestation or contamination

Please contact us if an unopened, properly stored product appears to have a genuine quality issue.

Water absorption may vary because of wheat or grain variety, protein and bran content, milling texture, flour temperature, storage conditions and product formulation. Add water gradually while kneading instead of relying on one fixed quantity for every batch.

Packaging

Products are packed in packaging selected according to the product, pack size, shelf-life requirements and food-safety needs — including food-grade pouches, paper or lined bags, pillow bags, bottles, outer cartons and protective delivery packaging.

Do not consume the product. Take clear photographs of the outer delivery packaging, the product packet, the damaged area, the delivery label, the batch number and the best-before date, then contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

We don't currently operate a packaging-return or reuse scheme — please follow the recycling guidance of your local authority.

Orders & Payments

Orders may be placed through the official Homegrown website, authorised online marketplaces where our products are listed, or selected retailers and supermarkets. Retail orders should normally be placed through the website or another authorised sales channel; wholesale and business enquiries can be sent to us directly by email.

The payment methods currently available will be displayed during checkout. Availability may depend on the website platform, order type and payment provider.

An order-confirmation email confirms that we have received your order. A binding contract is normally formed when the order is accepted or dispatched, as explained in our Terms and Conditions.

Contact us immediately and we'll try to assist, but changes and cancellations can't be guaranteed once milling, blending, personalised preparation, packing or dispatch preparation has started, since flour is milled after your order is placed. Please read our Returns, Refunds and Cancellation Policy for full information.

Delivery

We deliver to eligible UK addresses accepted during checkout. Availability and charges may vary for Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands, islands, offshore locations and other remote postcodes. International delivery is available only where an overseas destination is expressly accepted during checkout or separately agreed in writing.

Delivery charges may depend on postcode, parcel weight and dimensions, number of products or parcels, the selected delivery service, and current courier charges — the applicable charge is shown before payment. Free delivery applies only where a current offer is displayed and the order meets all stated conditions; thresholds and eligible products or postcodes may change for future orders.

Estimated processing and delivery information — including the time needed to mill, pack and prepare your order — is shown during checkout, in your order confirmation, or in our Shipping and Delivery Policy. Times are estimates unless a guaranteed delivery service or date has been expressly purchased or agreed. Where tracking is available, a tracking number or link is normally provided after dispatch, though it may take some time to become active.

Check the tracking information first. If the expected delivery period has passed with no meaningful update, contact us with your full name and order number. If tracking shows the parcel as delivered but you can't find it, please check:

  • The stated delivery location and any nominated safe place
  • With household members or neighbours
  • With reception, concierge or building management
  • Any delivery photograph or courier message

If the parcel still can't be located, contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

No. Homegrown does not offer customer collection. All website orders must be delivered using one of the delivery options available during checkout. Please do not travel to any Homegrown office, correspondence address, warehouse or production premises to collect an order.

Returns, Refunds & Quality Concerns

Homegrown does not offer additional voluntary change-of-mind returns, though any cancellation, return or refund rights required by UK consumer law remain unaffected. Please read our Returns, Refunds and Cancellation Policy before requesting a return.

Contact us immediately. Where milling, blending, packing or dispatch preparation hasn't started, we may be able to amend the order. Once preparation has started or the order has been dispatched, we don't normally accept a voluntary return simply because the wrong product or quantity was selected, except where required by law.

Contact us within 24 hours where reasonably possible, providing:

  • Your full name and order number
  • Clear photographs of the issue and of the delivery label
  • The product batch number and best-before date
  • An unboxing video, where available

The 24-hour reporting request helps us investigate the matter — it does not remove any statutory rights you may have.

Taste, colour, texture and water absorption may vary naturally between agricultural ingredients and production batches, so a personal taste preference doesn't normally mean a product is faulty. If there's an unusual smell, contamination, foreign material, damaged packaging or another genuine quality or safety concern, stop using the product immediately, keep it and its packaging where safe to do so, and contact us with the batch number, best-before date, purchase details, photographs and a clear description of the concern.

Retail, Wholesale & Business Orders

Homegrown products may be available through our official website, selected supermarkets and independent retailers, authorised online marketplaces, and approved wholesale or distribution partners — availability varies by product and location. Wholesale supply to supermarkets and independent retailers may be available subject to product availability, minimum order quantities, delivery area, credit approval where applicable, and commercial agreement.

Business supply may be available for restaurants, caterers, cafés, food manufacturers, independent shops, supermarkets, distributors and other approved businesses. Send your enquiry to us by email with full details.

Private-label or contract-manufacturing enquiries may be considered depending on product type, minimum order quantity, ingredient and packaging requirements, labelling and food-safety requirements, production capacity, and commercial agreement. Email us with full details.

Factory Access & Customer Collection

Homegrown does not offer public or walk-in factory visits. Approved commercial, supplier, regulatory or professional visits must be arranged and authorised in advance, and may be subject to hygiene requirements, health and safety procedures, production schedules, confidentiality requirements, restricted-access areas and visitor supervision.

No. Customers and members of the public are not permitted to enter production, raw-material storage or warehouse areas for food-safety, hygiene, operational and security reasons. Homegrown also does not offer customer collection from any office, correspondence address, warehouse or production premises — all orders must be delivered using the delivery options available at checkout, or separately agreed for approved business customers.

No. Homegrown does not offer public milling of customer-supplied grain. We use approved and traceable raw materials to maintain food-safety standards, allergen controls, supplier traceability, product quality and production consistency.

Customer Support

For customer service, orders, delivery concerns, quality matters or wholesale enquiries, email us and please include your order number where applicable. We aim to respond as soon as reasonably possible during normal working days — more complex delivery, quality or food-safety investigations may require additional information and time.

Please visit the relevant pages on our website for our Terms and Conditions, Shipping and Delivery Policy, Returns, Refunds and Cancellation Policy, Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. These policies provide more detailed information and take priority over any shortened FAQ answer where there is a difference.
